Bishop Berrian – The Mystery Lords Prayer

The Mystery Lords Prayer

The Lord ’s Prayer is a short, powerful prayer wherein the basis for this is the Sermon on the Mount, and Jesus discussing it to His disciples. That prayer serves as our model or a formula on how we should pray.

Matthew 6:6-14 says:

6 But thou, when thou prayest , enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly . 7 But when ye pray , use not vain repetitions , as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask Him. 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come . Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. 14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

Jesus taught us the correct way on how to pray. We must understand that prayer is of the spirit, and it is not formed. These are not the words that we have to recite repeatedly, but the power of this prayer comes from heaven, our state of mind. The purpose of prayer is to change ourselves, to change our spirit and not to change things. So when we pray, we do not pray from the problems, but we pray from the answer.

The Lord’s Prayer and what does it mean?

Our Father in heaven, (Jesus is everywhere)

hallowed be your name. (The most sacred name and this would be set apart and would be dedicated. It means that God is above all things, God is bigger than any situations that you are going through.)

Your Kingdom come, (kingly advice)

your will be done (Your will means God’s desires for you)

on earth as in heaven

Give us today our daily bread. (It’s all about the spiritual bread or the bread of heaven which is the food of God.)

Forgive us our sins, (This means we have to set free or let go and release all the things that bother us. It’s all about setting yourself free from any guilt, pain, depression, anger, sadness, and other negative feelings. )

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation, (Here, we ask God the Father to keep us from making a mistake. Temptations are WANT. For instance, today, crimes are almost everywhere; people commit crimes because of their WANT. They rob because of their WANT, they use illegal drugs because of their WANT, and all other actions that make people to commit sin. So God wants us to always stay on our desire not on our WANT).

but deliver us from evil. (We ask God to release us from offenses and to separate us from any troubles)

For the kingdom, (it is where your strength is)

the power and the glory are yours. (As we humble ourselves before the Lord, we exalt or give glory to the Lord)

Now and for ever.

Amen.

Believe when you pray

Matthew 21:22 says:

“And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”

This passage tells us that when we pray we have to believe that God will answer our prayers. Those who live in the kingdom of God know that prayer is filling the presence with God and accepting His presence as the fulfillment of the need. When we pray we have to pray in a positive sense and not in a negative sense. For God does not look on our problems but He looks on our greatness.

Moreover, every prayer should be an act of acceptance. Prayer is not a formula of words, but it is a guide of filling. We pray to get another state of mind, another state of consciousness which is our total belief system. Whatever happens in our life, we prayed for it.

What does closet mean?

When you pray it is important that you should return into a peaceful place in a positive state. Jesus said, “when thou prayest , enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret”, it is your sacred place, the state of your mind. It is a place where our treasures or valuables are kept. It is a secret place where you and God meet and talk. That’s what closet means. It is any place that you want where you can have your right state of mind to talk with God.

The formula on how we pray:

Prayer is the heart action and not the lip action. Since prayer is the secret transaction between you and God, Jesus gave us the formula or the model on how we pray.

  1. Seeking

“Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”

This statement directs our mind toward the seeking to God by reminding us of our relationship to God and to our family through Him. We must acknowledge the indwelling God by first seeking his presence.

  1. Asking

“Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil”.

You have not prayed to God until you tell God what to do. God look for consistent faith. He looks at your heart desires, and He listens to your prayer. What so ever things that you ask in prayer believe that you will receive them.

Matthew 21:22

If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

  1. Acknowledgment

For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.

Amen.

We seek to enter into the Lord’s Kingdom. When we pray, we acknowledge God’s presence, so we incline our mind by turning away from the things that disturb us such as guilt, frustration, anger and all other negative feelings. The eye of the mind must be lifted up above failure and poverty. The eye of the spirit must only see success and prosperity.

John 11:41-42 says:

41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying.[a] And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 And I knew that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.”

The stone here symbolizes all the things that bother us, our negative feelings and thoughts. So we have to withdraw ourselves from any of these disturbances in order to become successful or to achieve our desires.

The Lord’s Prayer is the model of prayer that Jesus taught us, as written down in the gospels of Matthew 6:10-14 and Luke 11:2-4. These powerful verses tell us that prayer is not something we do to God, but it is something that we do for ourselves in order to change our inner spirit and not to change the mind of God. Prayer is not all about asking, but it is all about knowing. It is not the number of words we recite, but it is our feelings, and most of all prayer brings unity to God.

Just to expand the statement, “prayer is about feeling”, it is about believing that God will answer our heart’s desires. Yes, if God feels the sincerity of our heart or our feeling, He will provide the answers of our prayer. We have to lift up everything to God and turn away all things that disturb us in order to become successful, to acquire infinite possibilities for health, wealth, happiness, love, and reward from God. Through our sincere and faithful prayer we will obtain all our heart desires without any doubt.
