16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
This is a powerful bible verse revealing us of God’s greatest gift to all mankind, LOVE. God never gives anything but the best for His children. Every good and perfect gift comes from Him, and Love is one the greatest gifts that He showered to humankind unconditionally. James 1:17 says:
17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
Love is the Greatest Gift of all
With deep gratefulness for this greatest gift, the apostle wrote, “Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift” (II Cor. 9:15). God wants to embrace this love and share this to our neighbors. Thus, we would not allow things that will disturb this love and create fear such as beliefs and practices. We have to throw away all our fears; instead, we have to trust and Love God with all our heart and strength.
1 Corinthians 13
13 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
The Power of Love
Without love, we are nothing, and without it nothing works. Our world was created by God with perfect balance. There’s earth and air, there’s cold and warm climate, as well as light and dark people. Without balance, our world will be in chaos, so Jesus emphasis the value of Love to His disciples to balance the world. Imagine the world without love and how people will treat each other without it. When we show our love among others, other people will also encourage to do good to those who wronged them. We do not only help to balance the world, but we also persuade others to divert hatred into love.
~Faith works by love
We have to ask God to be baptized in LOVE like John, the Apostle of love by removing envy, hatred, competition, jealousy and other negative feelings that may stain our soul. God is LOVE and loving our neighbors is also loving God. Let the scripture be our prayer. Let this powerful verse be the foundation of our Love (1 Corinthian 13:4).
“4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
Have you ever wondered why some people said that their prayers were not answered? Have you been bothered with your faith life? God has made plentiful of promises about faith. However, we must understand that only faith is activated and energized through love. Yes faith is the thing that speaks and goes in on your behalf, while love is the silent partner of faith. Faith and love must be activated to perceive oneself and others correctly and divinely, regardless of negative facts and appearances. Love is what makes faith work! Without love, faith is dead or inactive.
~Energizing faith by removing hatred
Love energizes your faith so we should not inhibit hatred in our heart. Hate will drain and weakens the strength of our faith.
Matthew 6:14-15 says:
14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Jesus is pointing out that we have to forgive our enemies as Father forgives as. “
The way you treat others will affect your faith. If you hate your neighbor or you do not forgive those people who sinned against you, then it means you do not love them. Here, we fail to energize our faith by inhibiting hatred and bitterness.
Love is a Spiritual Gift
Love is emphasized in the bible as the best gift of all because it implies to the unconditional love and God the Father manifested this love by sending us His only begotten Son. The Bible says: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”. (John 3:16)
Love is the mere essence of God. The bible tells us that everyone who loves is born of God and recognizes God. It was a genuine love that brought Jesus to give up His life for us. The bible says, “13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13) And “By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren” (1 John 3:16).
God also put emphasis on the two great commandment – to love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, and with our entire mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves (Matt. 22:37-39). Jesus also commanded his disciples to love one another. Therefore, as a true Christian we have to obey God’s 2 great commandments as a sign of our faith and love to God. 1 John 3:14 says, “We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren”.
